Jedi Mindwick

It’s beginning to be THAT time of year, so, of course I must ALSO annoy you with ridiculously early Christmas music. BUT…at least mine is so cool to look at, right??

Things have been amazing and rough all at the same time. Did some more time this past month. (as in hospitals not prisons, but whose counting anyway?) However, I’m now well on the path to recovery (yet again) and am here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And guess what I’m aaaaaaallll out of….

heh.

So, in light of recent issues and the impending doom that is the holiday season, I’ve started my own Scentsy business.
Yes, that’s right! I’m an Independent Scentsy Consultant and I’m quite excited about it!
If you’re stumped on what to get your mom for Christmas or need a terrific office party gift, then Scentsy is for you.

Orders can be placed through my personal website
Jedi Mindwick

If the yummy smells don’t sell you, the clever name should. ;)

Now that I’ve pimped out my little business to you, it’s time for some inspiration type happy stuffs.
The other day I found myself discussing my extreme hatred for my scar with a close friend of mine. Body Image is something women struggle with no matter who they are and a gnarly, 14 inch scar does not help matters. So I’ve decided it is time to attempt to embrace the force within and do what I do best. Make fun of it.
I’m seriously considering getting it tattooed to look like a monster or something is crawling out of my belly. Maybe a zombie should come out! How appropriate would that be?
So here’s my question and challenge to you, dear reader.
What is it about YOUR body that you struggle with?
Is it your weight? Your hair? Maybe you think you have webbed feet?

My challenge to you is to figure out what YOU need to do in order to accept the way you were designed.
Do you need to start walking every morning? Maybe you could use a good shampoo and cut? (NO ONE likes dirty bum hair, okay??) Or maybe you just need a big ole’ stinky rotting zombie coming out of your bellybutton like I do. ;)

Hugs and Sunny Surf,
Jessica and Gertrude

this is a great challenge–i don’t like the fat deposits around my hips/belly. it’s easy enough to treat, by going running more and not slouching out of yoga class, but still frustrating.

    sending you love!!

    Hi Jessica!

So happy to find your blog! You are such an inspiration and survivor! Hats off to you!

I found your blog on Fran’s Cancer Shmancer. I am a long time follower of her blog. I was diagnosed in the later stage of ovarian cancer when I was 28 yrs old in 2002. I lived a whole year trying to find a doctor to help and no one believed I had cancer but me. It is amazing I am still alive as I almost did not make it. Chemo nearly killed me too.

Ten years later, I was just diagnosed with a re-laps on Friday. I have been very pro-active and think I caught it at an early stage this time, even though all my symptoms are hitting harder and faster than last time. A few months after my cancer treatment in 2002 I was hit by a truck at a stoplight. I also had a minor tumor in 2007 removed. Needless to say my life has been one big medical challenge. Symptoms of my vertigo and Fibromyalgia have masked the cancer symptoms, but I still noticed a drastic change in fatigue, bruising and my hair falling out. Now just waiting for treatment.

I love your Scentcy candles! My mother has a whole collection for every time of the year.

Ever since I’ve been slit from hip to hip twice, I now have an ugly scar across my stomach and have thought about getting a tattoo to cover it. That is my big hate feature. I am also now counting down the days to get the rest of my hair chopped off. I will be needing some advice on where to by the “cool” bandanas and try to make fun of having no hair again.

    ((hugs)) Take care,

    Teia

I LOVE Fran Dreshcer and was really honored when her site decided to post my story. I’m also glad you found me on there, as it sounds like you’re about to need some attitude, understanding and laughter. That I can totally provide. Just because you get dealt a crappy hand, doesn’t mean you can’t still win the poker round. ;) Remember…you’re at your chemo sessions to do two things…Chew bubblegum and kick ass. And guess what they don’t have in the chemo rooms…heh..
So kick some ass again. ;)
You can get bandanas at wal-mart for as little as a dollar! My favorite thing to do tho, was get pashima scarves and wrap up my head like Eryka Badu. If you do some youtube searches for things like “Headscarf wrap, tie a head scarf, hajib” you’ll find tons of videos with super cute and pretty ways to wrap them. OOOOOOHHH you just gave me a blog idea! heh..
As for your hair, it’ll grow back. I’m a big advocate of shaving it off before it falls out. This way, you’re bald because YOU CHOSE to be. NOT because canSer forced you. I found it quite liberating to do it this way and it helped me cope with the dehumanization and loss of identity that most women feel when losing their hair like that.
And please let me know if you would like to order some Scentsy! I can definitely assist with that as well. (If you have questions about scents or need suggestions or anything at all. )
      Hugs and sunny surf,
      Jessica

I haven’t gained that much weight, but my flab quotient has been gradually but steadily increasing as I’ve gotten older. I know exercise is the only answer, since my diet has always been pretty healthy. Just need to find a way to kickstart the process!

Emergent zombie sounds pretty cool to me. :-)
