I’m baaaaaaaaccckk..

Saturday was bittersweet. Gertrude and Mr. Plum have ended their courtship for the time being and I really don’t believe Gertie has any hard feelings about it at all..whatsoever.
Seriously, though, I can’t even really describe how I felt on Saturday. Everything in Jessicaland seemed very surreal, like a sort of dreamworld. (but of course, in MY dreamworld, Tim Burton’s creations walk amongst the living and the living are fully prepared for the ever impending doom of the zombie apocalypse.)
I went to a flea market/antique shop (or as we like to call it in my family..”Junkin”) and found some handmade hat pins. I’ve been madly scouring eBay, Etsy and all kinds of other interwebz shoppy type sites looking for some hat pins to poke into my scarves since this all started. Well, I carefully sorted through the vase of pins and picked out a few with some big baubles on the ends of ‘em.
Now lemme tell ya…when it came time to pay for all my little junkin finds, it felt sooooooooooooo unbelievably GOOD to pick up those hat pins, walk back to the booth I found ‘em in and put ‘em right back in that vase for someone ELSE to buy. The little lady at the register asked why I had put them back and I proudly told her that I finished my chemo and just wasn’t thinking when I picked them up in the first place. I told her about how I wasn’t going to need them much longer because I’m growing my hair back out. I told her of how they would just be a pitiful, sad reminder of a long lost land I had to conquer. I told her they deserved better than just sitting around my messy room, collecting dust and reminding me of crappy days. Heh. She smirked. So I paid for my little owlies and other useless nothings and walked out of there with a huge smile. Then I sat in my car and laughed and cried.

In other news, I promised pictures from that last round. :) Can I just say that I LOVE MY FRIENDS???? First, I started out the match WITHOUT my usual Sonic coke. (Absolutely EVERYONE knows that I LOVE Sonic cokes and I always had one with me when I went to chemo. Coke out of a can just doesn’t taste the same.) Well, I put out a pretty desperate plea via facebook and my girl Samantha came to the rescue. She dropped whatever it was she was doing, loaded up her kids in her momvan and brought my silly face a Sonic Coke!!! Yes!!!
Then, around 2:30 or so, my Kim-shaped friend showed up… with this stuffs!!

I know..you’re totally jealous because you don’t have awesome friends who bring you balloons and wear margarita shades to your chemo sessions. Teeheehee.
Now just imagine my surprise when I opened my eyes and saw her standing there with the Pink Flamingo balloon (I’ll get to that in a sec.) and the kick @ss shades! She made me laugh. Made me laugh hard.

I’ve been on this Pink Flamingo kick lately..loving everything pink flamingo and Kim totally played on that! That pink flamingo that I have lovingly been calling Bert is still in my bedroom right now. When the air is all out of Bert, I plan on either pinning him up on the wall somewhere or folding him up neatly and stowing him away to make me laugh another day.
About 4:30, my other bestie Ryann and her hubby showed up. It was time.

See that big ole bell behind me? I’m about to dent that sucker in this picture..

I actually have video footage of this and the victory dance I did afterwards, but tis an unfortunate series of events…I can’t find the cord I need in order to transfer that video to my computer for your viewing pleasure. I will, however, keep looking for it. In the meantime, here’s a photo of said victory dance.

Love these women! By far two of the strongest and most amazing women I’ve ever known. A lot of people have supported and still are supporting me..don’t get me wrong..but these two have been there for me since like..what..14 years old or somethin?? They’ve been there for just about every up and down I’ve ever experienced.
Nonetheless, I love you all and thank you for everything and your continued support. This week I conquered canSer. Next week..the world. (I’m preparing my zombie army right now as we speak for total annihilation and world dominance.)

Hugs and Sunny Surf,
Jessica and Gertrude
